I'm happy using Media Preview

A quick question about the position seek setting. Does reducing the percentage speed up the initial thumbnail generation?

Very stable for me

Because the settings are disabled. Click "Customize" at the top to enable some of them. Then continue to click "Enable" to enable more.

This does sound like a faulty drive. Run a tool like CrystalDiskInfo and look for any bad sectors.

Running Windows 10 Technical Preview 9926 the thumbnail cache problem still exists.
