Here's the place to discuss anything about Media Preview in English.

@theoneofgod: can you send me one of your flv files?

@Paul: So, you really have the lag issue on every media files... I personally tested on WinXP 32-bit, WinVista 32-bit, Win7 64-bit and Win8.1 64-bit.
The L2 cache won't work properly on Win8 because this version of Windows has a nasty bug. I'll do some tests later on Win8.1u1 64-bit, but I'm quite busy currently with my professional and personal life (Media Preview has become a side project of mine). In the meantime, you can re-install the last official version (1.4.3), go to the Wizard of the conf tool and set Media Preview to "speed".

Maybe it's not the file format. I have a folder of 200 files, mixed .mp4 and .flv, and MP is taking about 5 minutes to sort it all out.

Hello

Windows 7 = NO LAG

Windows 8 = NO LAG

Windows 8.1 = NO LAG

Windows 8.1 Update 1 = LAG

Confirmed after virtualizing each of them.

So Update 1 introduces some changes that make Media Preview work slow as hell. That's my experience. Probably explorer.exe has changed too much with Update 1. We will have to wait for Babelsoft to try Update 1 and release a new beta or just live with the lag.

Thanx!

I can confirm I'm running Windows 8.1 Update 1.

Thanks to you Paul for going all the way to test in several virtual machines. At least, it matches my testing results. So, I'll focus on Win8.1u1 and see what can be wrong.
I suppose that theoneofgod has begun to see the lag issue only after upgrading to Win8.1u1 and this with his most recently acquired media files, which happens to be only .flv files.

I've noticed it since you added the L2 cache. Maybe it existed before, I'm not sure.

Hello

Today I tried updating the libav codec dlls on the Media Preview folders (both x86 a x64) with latest versions from http://ffmpeg.zeranoe.com and http://libav.org but no luck with the lag. :(

@theoneofgod: is there any way for you to send me the mkv file responsible of the COM error? For this kind of errors, file properties are hardly enough to understand what's go wrong with a file. Having the actual file is usually the only way to find out what's wrong.
